Storylines

  • The Jackets were ranked No. 7 in this week’s AVCA DI Coaches Preseason Poll, joining the 2003 and 2020 squads to tie the fourth highest mark in program history.
  • Tech’s selection marks the fifth consecutive appearance in the AVCA’s top 10 after being tabbed No. 8 at the end of the 2021 season and landing among the nation’s best in each of this season’s four polls.
  • The Yellow Jackets have been listed in 42 straight top 25 polls to date.
  • Tech most recently split a top-10 weekend in its home hosted Georgia Tech Classic. The White and Gold breezed by previously No. 10 BYU for the first sweep of a regular season top-10 opponent in program history. The win was also the fourth regular season top-10 victory all-time. Including postseason play, the Jackets now own six top-10 triumphs, sweeping No. 9 seed Ohio State as recently as 2021’s Sweet 16.
  • Senior outside hitter Julia Bergmann currently leads the nation in kills per set (5.54) and points per set (6.33).
  • The decorated Jacket eclipsed 1,300 career kills over the weekend, currently owning 1,326.
  • Bergmann put up her third and fourth 20+ kill outings of the season against top 10 teams in formerly No. 10 BYU and previously No. 8 Ohio State. As the Jackets swept the Cougars for their first top-10 win of the season, the outside hitter led the match with 20 kills on top of nine digs, two aces and two blocks. Those 20 kills and 23.5 points marked the most in the ACC in a three-set match this season. Bergmann followed that with another match high of 21 kills and a pair of digs against the Buckeyes.
  • Overall, Bergmann garnered Georgia Tech Classic all-tournament honors after piling up 41 kills (5.86 per set), 11 digs, two aces and two blocks (one solo, one assisted). Graduate middle blocker Breland Morrissette joined her in receiving recognition with six blocks, four digs and seven kills through the top-10 weekend.
  • As a unit, Georgia Tech is currently fourth in the ACC in kills per set (13.29).
  • Going beyond 2019’s NIVC title, Tech has won 64 of its last 77 matches.
  • Over the course of the past four seasons, Georgia Tech is 39-6 at home in O’Keefe Gymnasium. Tech is 298-103 (.744) all time in O’Keefe Gymnasium’s 28-year history.

Series History

  • Georgia Tech is undefeated against Arkansas all-time, winning all seven contests between the two with a 21-3 advantage in sets. Most recently, the Yellow Jackets swept the Razorbacks a season ago at a neutral site. Three of the White and Gold’s wins have come on The Flats while the other four were neutral matches. The Jackets have swept four matches in the series, never allowing the Razorbacks to claim more than a set in a single match going back to the first contest at a neutral site in 1996.
  • Georgia leads Tech in the all-time series, 24-18. The Yellow Jackets most recently swept the Bulldogs at home last season. Since 1999, Georgia Tech is 18-4 in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate matchups, including a pair of seven-match win streaks between 1999-2004 and 2006-12.
