Jennifer Randall recorded a career high 9 kills and Abby Showers posted a career high 15 assists as the No. 5 Georgia Tech volleyball team swept cross-town rival Georgia State, 30-23, 30-19, 30-17. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 15-0 while the Panthers fall to 18-4.
Tech dominated the match offensively, hitting .361 as a team to the Panthers’ .072. Lauren Sauer led the way for Tech, recording 13 kills, followed by Alexandra Preiss who had 11 and Lynnette Moster who posted 10. Eveland and Showers split the setting duties in the match as Eveland recorded 24 assists and Showers 15.
At the net, the Jackets recorded a season-high 16 blocks in the match as Preiss led the team with 7 block assists followed by Moster who posted a career-high five block assists. Defensively, Tech recorded 56 digs as Moster led the team with 15 followed by Marisa Aston who recorded 11.
The Panthers were led by April Decoste who had four kills, 20 assists and seven digs in the match.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host Virginia (17-2, 1-2 ACC) in O’Keefe Gymnasium.
