CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The 21st-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team concluded a tough weekend road trip by dropping a 5-2 decision to eighth-ranked North Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Yellow Jackets (11-6, 1-3 ACC) fell behind the Tar Heels (13-3, 2-0 ACC) by a 1-0 score early in the match by dropping all three of the day’s doubles matches. Tech’s team of Mysti Morris and Sekita Grant came the closest to picking up a doubles win, as they fell to Carolina’s Marlene Mejia and Julie Rotondi by an 8-6 score.

In singles action, North Carolina continued its strong play, winning all but two matches from Tech. The Jackets did pick up a pair of wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions in the lineup, as Mason Miller and Sekita Grant were both victorious. Miller was a winner at No. 5, as she picked up a straight-set victory over the Tar Heels’ Caroline Hill by a score of 6-4, 6-1. Grant was victorious over UNC’s Kendall Cline at the No. 6 spot, claiming a straight-set, 7-6 (3), 6-1 decision.

The Jackets will look to get back on track next weekend when they return home to host Virginia (March 30, 10 a.m.) and Maryland (March 31, 11 a.m.) in a pair of ACC match-ups.
