Setting the Scene: The Yellow Jackets moved up two spots in the ITA rankings to No. 15 after nearly upsetting No. 1 Wake Forest last weekend and topping Liberty 6-1. The Jackets moved to 11-3 on the season and 3-1 in the ACC to tie for third in the league.
The Eagles are 3-9 overall and tied for last in the ACC with a 0-4 conference record. They look to bounce back after losses to Duke and Virginia Tech on Friday and Sunday. The Fighting Irish are 10-6 on the season, holding at .500 in the ACC with a 2-2 record.
Singles Update: Junior Christopher Eubanks was named the men’s tennis ACC Player of the Week following his upset over No. 2 Petros Chrysochos on Sunday in the Jackets’ loss to the Demon Deacons. Eubanks went 2-0 on the day with a win over Vince Salas in Tech’s 6-1 win over Liberty.
Doubles Update: The Jackets dropped the doubles point in both matches on Sunday, falling at one and three against both Wake Forest and Liberty. Carlos Benito and Carlos Divar landed at No. 75 in the ITA doubles rankings, taking four games over the No. 1-ranked doubles pair from Wake Forest on Sunday in their loss.
Head coach Kenny Thorne says: “We have to be tough on the road in order to reach our goals this season. This weekend will be a good test. We need to improve a couple of things from Sunday’s matches and we worked on those things. Now it comes down to the execution and the fight.”
