Alexandra Preiss recorded 16 kills and five block assists while hitting .560 as the No. 12 Georgia Tech volleyball team (2-0) defeated Coastal Carolina (1-1) in three games, 30-17, 30-18, 30-26 in the Courtyard by Marriott Classic.
The Jackets’ offense was solid, hitting .331 as a team while holding the Chanticleers to a .102 hitting percentage. Jayme Gergen notched 8 kills and hit .667 and Laura Kuhn chipped in nine kills and a .571 hitting percentage. Kele Eveland recorded 30 assists in the match while Lindsey Laband added 17.
Defensively, three Tech players finished the match with double-figure digs as Keight Vincent tallied a team-high 11 while Lynnette Moster and Marisa Aston each recorded 10.
All of Tech’s players saw action in the match. Freshmen Abby Showers recorded 4 assists, 2 digs and 1 kill and Jacque Beebe had 3 digs. Nicole Pierce registered 2 kills, 1 dig and 1 block assist and Katie Mohs tallied 3 digs.
The Chanticleers were led by Katherine Jensen who had nine kills and eight digs in the match.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. when they host Alabama in O’Keefe Gymnasium in the final match of the Courtyard by Marriott Classic.
