THE FLATS – Matt Kuchar continued his climb up the FedEx Cup rankings last weekend by tying for 11th place at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla.
The former U.S. Amateur champion and three-time All-American shots one of the best final rounds of the tournament, a 68, to finish at 1-under-par 283 at the Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort, which played tough the entire weekend and yielded a winning score of 7-under-par. It was Kuchar’s fourth top-25 finishes in seven events during the 2015-16 season.
Chesson Hadley was the only other one of the six former Jackets to make the cut, tying for 69th place at 294 (+10) after opening with a 68.
All but Hadley will be in the field this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando. Kuchar (57), Tringale (68), Castro (88), Cink (106) and Molder (115) all are in solid shape in the FedEx Cup rankings.

The Web.com Tour resumes play this weekend, when the tour returns to the States with the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Richard Werenski, with a tie for second place in the last event in Colombia, is off to a fast start.
Ollie Schniederjans settles into his Web.com Tour schedule after playing six TOUR events on sponsor invites this season, making four cuts. The three-time Tech All-American and former No. 1-ranked amateur looks to rebound after missing the cut in Bogota and is No. 7 in this week’s Web.com Tour power rankings.
Schniederjans and Werenski is joined in the field by Troy Matteson, Anders Albertson and Kyle Scott.
