THE FLATS – Chesson Hadley and Stewart Cink earned solid finishes and improvements in their FedEx Cup standing last weekend with top-30 finishes at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Hadley was consistent over his four rounds on the tough PGA National Champions course, firing rounds of 70-71-70-70 for a 1-over-par total of 281, and tied for 21st place, improving 29 spots in FedEx Cup points. Cink was just a stroke behind after his 2-over-par 282, tying for 26th place in moving into the top 100 in FedEx Cup points. They played with each other during the third round.

Cink has made seven cuts in 10 events in 2015-16 and just missed getting his third top-25 finish. Hadley earned his first top-25 finish in nine events, and has made five cuts.
Three other Tech alums – Ollie Schniederjans, Nicholas Thompson and Cameron Tringale – missed the cut, but Schniederjans got some media coverage as he played on his sixth sponsor exemption of 2015-16.
Matt Kuchar is the only Tech alumnus in the field for this week’s World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship, being played at Trump National Doral. Everyone else will be back in action next week at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla.
The Web.com Tour resumes play March 17-20, when the tour returns to the States with the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Richard Werenski, with a tie for second place in the last event in Colombia, is off to a fast start.
