THE FLATS – Led by Cameron Tringale, four former Georgia Tech stars made the cut last weekend at the Career Builder Challenge, the first stop on the PGA Tour’s Western swing.
Tringale shot four rounds in the 60s and tied for 14th place at 17-under-par 271, inching up a couple of spots to No. 24 in the FedEx Cup points standings. It was his third top-25 finish in four events this season, and Tringale is currently the highest ranked player in the FedEx race among former Yellow Jackets.
Bryce Molder also enjoyed a good weekend, tying for 28th place (-14), while Matt Kuchar tied for 49th (-11) and Roberto Castro tied for 56th (-10). Jason Dufner defeated David Lingmerth in a playoff after both players complete 72 holes at 25-under-par. Stewart Cink, Chesson Hadley and Ollie Schniederjans all missed the cut.
Castro, Cink, Hadley, Molder, Schniederjans and Tringale are all in the field for this week’s Farmers Insurance Open at famed Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif.
Web.com Tour – The Web.com Tour gets its 2016 season underway this weekend in Panama with the Panama Claro Championship. Anders Albertson and Kyle Scott will make their Web.com debuts this weekend, while Richard Werenski begins his second season on the tour, and PGA Tour veterans Troy Matteson and Nicholas Thompson are also in the field.
