THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s cross country runner Nicole Fegans was named to the All-ACC Academic women’s cross country team, the conference announced Wednesday. This is the second time Fegans has earned the honor.
To earn All-ACC academic women’s cross country team honors a student athlete must maintain a career GPA of 3.0 or higher and post a 3.0 GPA or higher in the most recent semester. In addition to academic excellence, athletic success is also considered in the decision-making process.
Fegans earned All-ACC and All-South Region honors during the 2021 cross country season. The senior business major from Douglasville, Ga. has been no stranger to all conference honors. Fegans has won All-ACC Academic Team twice, All-ACC three times and All-South Region twice.
At the 2021 ACC Championships, Fegans finished seventh overall running with the lead pack for the entire race. She clocked a time of 20:30.8 in the 6k race. This time was her season-best and earned her All-ACC honors for the third straight season.
The next race for Fegans was the South Regionals where she placed 11th overall and set a new personal best in the 6k of 20:06.7. This finish earned her All-South Region honors and placed her just outside qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Fegans has been a staple in Tech women’s cross country and track & field during her stay on The Flats. During the 2021 season, she won two of the three regular season races she competed in and finished top-10 in every regular season race. Fegans also competes for the track & field team where she has eight school records to her name.
