THE FLATS – Nicole Fegans has earned ACC Co-Track Performer of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Tuesday.
The fifth-year senior ran the 10k at the Raleigh Relays on Thursday, March 22 turning in the nation’s best time in the event at 33:00.89.Fegans took over the top spot during the final 2000m and proved her incredible endurance with the three fastest 400m splits in her section during the final 1200m.
Showing off her powerful kick, Fegans ran a 1:09.98 split over the final 400m, extending her lead by nearly two seconds to secure the victory and post the fastest split of every section.
Fegans finished 4.67 seconds ahead of her closest competition in the race and 14.64 seconds ahead of her closest ACC counterpart. Her time is good for best in the nation during the outdoor season.
Top ACC performances are nothing new to Fegans as she won the ACC Championship in the 10k last season.
The women’s track & field stand out has earned two indoor track & field performer of the week honors. This weekly honor is the first for her during the outdoor season.
The White and Gold return to the track at the Florida Relays starting Thursday, May 31 in Gainesville, Fla.
