Tech Falls in ACC Road Test Friday

CLEMSON, S.C. – Georgia Tech softball (15-9, 3-1 ACC) fell in its first ACC road contest of the season after a 9-4 finish against Clemson (15-7, 1-0 ACC) on Friday night.

QUICK HITS

• Madalyn Johnson made her 11^th start of the season, 15^th appearance, on Friday night and recorded three strikeouts across her 3.1 innings pitched.
• Makayla Coffield, Katie Cunane, Charlotte Smith, and Kenley Hilleary all made relief appearances in the circle for Tech.
• The Friday night appearance brought Hilleary to 11 total appearances this season, the second most of a pitcher this season behind Johnson. Of her 11 appearances, nine of them have been as a relief pitcher which is the most of any pitcher this season.
• Alyssa Willer continues to drive Tech’s offense as she slammed her seventh home run of the season in the seventh inning of Friday night’s contest. Her home run in game one of the series against Clemson ties her season total from her freshman campaign in 2025.
• Reese Hunter and Jayden Gailey led Tech’s offense with one run and two hits each against the Tigers.
• Hunter’s two hits bring her to 10 multi-hit games this season, tying Willer for the most multi-hit games this season. Gailey sits with five multi-hit games this season alongside Madi Duffel.
• Duffel’s early first inning slam down the left field line was enough to tie her career high for RBI (3) and bring her to five multi-RBI games, the second most on the team behind Willer who has nine this season.
• Gracyn Tucker’s single in the fifth extends her hitting streak to 12 games, the most of any Yellow Jacket so far this season.
• Holly Medina’s one hit extended her reached safely streak as well, bringing her to 15 games, the longest of any Yellow Jacket this season. Medina is one of three players on the team with double digit consecutive safely reached games alongside Tucker who has 12 and Willer who has 10.
• Tech has recorded at least one home run in 16 of its 24 total games played so far this season. Of those 16 games, 10 games have seen multiple home runs recorded. The Yellow Jackets so far this season have not gone more than one game without hitting at least one home run.

 HOW IT HAPPENED

• Tech was quick to get on the board in Friday night’s game as Reese Hunter, Gracyn Tucker, and Jayden Gailey were all sent running home off Madi Duffel’s double deep down the left field line in the first inning.
• Clemson responded with three runs as well off of five singles, one walk, and a fielder’s choice. Madalyn Johnson was able to catch the last two Tiger’s swinging to get Tech back up to bat.
• Johnson was able to keep the Tigers at three-runs through to the fourth, collecting one final strikeout in the fourth before she was relieved by Makayla Coffield who came in and immediately sat down the first batter faced.
• In the fifth, Clemson was able to stack five runs in the fifth due to an unusual number of walks from Tech. The Tigers scored their final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth after the runner on third came home off a ground out with one out away.
• Alyssa Willer scored Tech’s final run in game one of the series with a solo shot over left center.

Full Steam Ahead

Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics.
