Tech to Host Mississippi State in ACC/SEC Men’s Basketball Challenge

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s basketball will host Mississippi State in the inaugural ACC/SEC Men’s Challenge, with the game taking place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 28 at McCamish Pavilion. The ACC/SEC Men’s Challenge will take place over back-to-back days Tuesday, Nov. 28 and Wednesday, Nov. 29, while the ACC/SEC Women’s Challenge is slated for Nov. 29 and 30.

Both men’s and women’s Challenge events will feature games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network. Coverage details, including platform designations and commentator information, will be announced in the Fall.

The ACC/SEC Challenge replaces the former ACC/Big Ten Challenge, which spanned 1999 through 2022. Tech compiled a 9-13 record in that event.

Tech, a member of the Southeastern Conference from 1933-64, and Mississippi State have not faced each other since December 19, 1975 after meeting 29 times between 1922-75. The Yellow Jackets, coming off a 15-18 season in 2022-23, own a 16-13 advantage in the all-time series, including a 6-5 mark in home games and a 12-7 edge in games as conference foes. The Bulldogs posted a 21-13 overall record last season.

Season tickets for the 2023-24 campaign for Georgia Tech men’s basketball, the first under new head coach Damon Stoudamire, are available to the general public. Tech’s schedule will include 10 Atlantic Coast Conference home games as well as the Yellow Jackets’ always-challenging non-conference slate.

Looking to return the Yellow Jackets to national prominence, Stoudamire brings the experience of 13 years as a successful NBA player, 10 years of coaching experience on the collegiate level and four years on the NBA level. He was named the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 2020, his final as the head coach at Pacific University, and went from there to be an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics, who posted the best record in the NBA’s Eastern Conference the last two years. Stoudamire has built his staff with coaches who helped build winning programs at their previous schools.

Tech returns four starters who helped the Jackets win seven of their last 10 games to finish last season, and has added five transfers in what has been rated the 17^th-best transfer class in the nation by 247Sports.

Season ticket prices start at $290. Season tickets for faculty, staff and letterwinners are $280, and tickets for new alumni can be purchased for as little as $199.
