THE FLATS — The Alexander-Tharpe Fund, Georgia Tech athletics’ fundraising arm, held its annual Scholarship Endowment Dinner earlier this month at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.
The Scholarship Endowment Dinner is held annually to show appreciation for the A-T Fund donors that support Georgia Tech student-athletes through the endowment of athletics scholarships, while also giving scholarship recipients the opportunity to personally express their gratitude for donors’ generous support.
As always, the event was highlighted by speeches from current Georgia Tech student-athletes — baseball’s Tres Gonzalez, softball’s Emma Kauf, women’s basketball’s Lotta-Maj Lahtinen and volleyball’s Erin Moss. In her speech, Moss shared the story of the sacrifices her family made to allow her to play volleyball at the highest levels as a youth, telling donors, “Thank all of you for enabling me to follow my dream of being a volleyball-playing engineer and for turning my parents’ four-year investment into a life-long return.”
