Greensboro, N.C. – Georgia Tech freshman guard Dallan “Deebo” Coleman has been named to the 2021-22 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball team, the conference announced Tuesday. The team is comprised of 37 student-athletes, with at least one from each of the conference’s 15 programs.
Excellent in the classroom as well as serving notice of a strong future on the basketball court, Coleman carried a 3.61 GPA in his first year in business administration. The 6-6 guard from Memphis, Tenn., played in 31 games, starting five, and averaged nearly 24 minutes for the Yellow Jackets in 2021-22. Coleman connected on 41.3 percent of his three-point attempts and averaged 6.2 points per game overall. He averaged 6.3 points and hit 36 percent from three-point range in ACC games.
Coleman reached double figures in points in seven games, including a season-high of 19 points against Lamar on Nov. 15, and three times in conference games, posting a high of 15 at Miami on Feb. 9.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Virginia Tech’s Justyn Mutts was named the 2022 recipient of the Skip Prosser Award, presented annually to the top scholar-athlete in ACC men’s basketball. He was honored on March 9 prior to the Hokies’ game against Clemson in the New York Life ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
