Christian Ferraro set new 100 fly program record
THE FLATS – Fifth-year senior Caio Pumputis earned his 10th All-American honor of his illustrious career with his performance in the 100 breast.
Pumputis earned his 10th All-American honor with a time of 51.70 in the prelims to earn him his place in the finals. Pumputis would come back in the finals and turned in a time of 51.82, placing 14th overall.
In the 100 fly, Christian Ferraro posted a new personal best that improved his program record to 45.24. Ferraro swam a 21.30 split in his first 50, with a 23.94 on his last 50.
Berke Saka was the final individual to compete on the day when he took to the pool in the 100 back, touching the wall at 46.35.
Tech also swam in the 400 medley relay with the team of Saka, Pumputis, Ferraro and Batur Ünlü. Saka started with a 46.21 in the backstroke portion, Pumptuis followed up with a 51.41 in the breaststroke portion, Ferraro took over with a 44.97 in the butterfly portion and Ünlü finished up the medley relay with a 42.64 in the 100 freestyle portion to come up with a time of 3:05.23.
The White and Gold will continue NCAA competition on Saturday with the 200 back (Saka), 200 breast (Pumputis), 200 fly (Ferraro) and 1650 free (Mert Kilavuz).
