Georgia Tech Slated 14th in Latest AVCA Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Georgia Tech volleyball (17-3, 8-2 ACC) has been marked No. 14 in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Women’s Poll, the AVCA announced on Monday.

The Yellow Jackets remain among the top 15 in the nation for the second consecutive week after coming in at No. 13 in the AVCA’s rankings a week ago. Since appearing in the Top 25 at No. 12 on Sept. 30, 2020, Tech has been listed in 32 straight top 25 polls to date. The Jackets are joined in the poll by No. 2 Louisville and No. 4 Pitt among the ACC ranks. Tech was also tabbed No. 7 in the NCAA’s Rating Percentage Index, its highest ranking of the season after being listed 10^th a week ago.

Tech receives its new position amongst the country’s best following another undefeated ACC weekend in which the Jackets claimed their first win at Syracuse in program history before capping the road trip with a sweep of Boston College.

Georgia Tech, currently riding a six-match win streak, has now won 49 of its last 58 matches dating back to 2019. The Yellow Jackets have won 28 of their last 32 matches at home in O’Keefe Gymnasium and are a perfect 9-0 in true road matches this season, going 7-0 away from The Flats in ACC play.

On the year, Georgia Tech boasts some of the top numbers in the country, ranking second in the nation and leading the league in kills per set (14.72) while placing fourth in the NCAA and topping the ACC in assists per set (13.39).

Junior outside hitter Julia Bergmann has been the driving force behind Tech’s vaunted attack, leading the ACC in both points per set and kills per set. On a national scale, her 5.28 points per set rank 10th in the country while her 4.59 kills per set are good for 14^th in the nation. Senior setter Matti McKissock has been the architect behind the Yellow Jackets’ strong assist numbers, leading the ACC and placing sixth in the nation in assists per set (11.29) as she continues her climb in Georgia Tech history. McKissock currently owns the fourth most career assists in school history while leading the program in career assists during the 25-point rally scoring era.
