THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball head coach Aileen Morales added five student-athletes to the 2020-21 roster as part of the fall signing period.
“I am thrilled to announce the early signees in our 2020 class,” commented Morales. “This marks the first recruiting class to have been built entirely by our coaching staff. My assistants have worked tirelessly to find the top talent in the state and region and I think that is evident in the caliber of student-athletes we have signed.”
Mallorie Black (Cumming, Ga./North Forsyth HS)
A product of North Forsyth High School, Mallorie Black comes to The Flats from Cumming, Ga. The right-handed middle infielder lettered for four seasons under Jim Cahill at shortstop. In 2018 and 2019 she led North Forsyth to back-to-back Region 5-7A championship. She was named to the Region 5-7A all-academic team for three-straight years (2017-19). Black was tabbed first team all-state in 2018 and 2019 and was dubbed the Region 5-7A Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2019.She finished the 2019 season with 63 RBI and 10 home runs. She carried a 20 game hitting streak during the 2019 season.
Morales on Black: “Mal is a tremendous middle infielder with the ability to hit for power consistently to all fields. She is an elite athlete that I am beyond excited to coach in the infield.”
