THE FLATS – Avery Bartlett, Daniel Pietsch, Preston Smith, Nahom Solomon, Hailey Gollnick and Jeanine Williams were all named to the outdoor track and field all-ACC academic team, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets earned the selection by recording a 3.0 grade-point average or better for the semester while maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA for their academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the all-ACC academic team.
Bartlett , a junior computational media major, was an all-ACC selection after winning the 800m at the 2018 Outdoor Track and Filed ACC Championship in Miami, Fla. in May. He was an NCAA national qualifier in the 800m, finishing 11th overall on his way to earning all-American status. Bartlett set the Georgia Tech record in the 800m at the Florida Relays. He was also tabbed to the all-ACC academic team for the indoor season.
A senior mechanical engineering major, Pietsch, was an all-ACC selection in the 400m. He finished sixth at the ACC Championships in May. He also qualified for the NCAA East Prelims in the 400m. Pietsch earned academic all-ACC honors for the 2018 indoor season as well.
