THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s Noah Norton, who finished the spring ranked No. 57 among all Division I players by Golfstat and No. 69 in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings, was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America Division I All-Freshman team, the organization announced Wednesday prior to the NCAA Championship match.
Norton was the second-highest-ranked player nationally on the Tech roster this year, leading the Yellow Jackets with four top-10 finishes, including a tie for second at the General Hackler Championship this spring. He was second on the team with a stroke average of 71.43. Norton was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, the ninth Georgia Tech freshman to earn that distinction, and to the GCAA’s All-East Region team.
The Chico, Calif., freshman joins a five-man team that includes Oklahoma State’s Matthew Wolff, who won the Phil Mickelson Award as the Division I outstanding freshman, Brandon Mancheno of Auburn, John Pak of Florida State and Clemson’s Turk Pettit.
