SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams completed day one competition at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. tonight. Senior Barton Crist (Lilburn, Ga.) led the Yellow Jackets with a 10th-place finish in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:30.54. Day two of the invitational track meet will continue on Saturday, Feb. 8, beginning at 10 a.m.
The women’s distance medley relay team of Jennifer Lentz (Brevard, N.C.), Ashlee Kidd (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Jennifer Sims (Woodstock, Ga.) and Kirby Cross (Rome, Ga.) tallied a season-best time of 11:58.37 to finish seventh for the Jackets.
Competing in the weight throw for Tech were sophomores Dore’ Madere and Simone Parker (Lithonia, Ga.) on the women’s side and junior Jonathan Chihoski (Warwick, R.I.) on the men’s side. Parker posted a mark of 48’08.00″ to finish eighth in flight three, while Madere’ finished ninth in flight three with a toss of 45’10.50″. Chihoski tallied an eighth-place finish in flight two with a throw of 49’11.00″.
Senior Neta Ezer (Plainsboro, N.J.) rounded out competitors for the Yellow Jackets with a ninth-place finish in the 5000 meters, posting a time of 17:52.74 in the event.
Day two of the Meyo Invitational will continue tomorrow with 13 events scheduled.
