THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis continues its fall slate this weekend when it travels to Nashville to compete at the Commodore Invitational. The tournament is hosted by Vanderbilt and will feature the hosts, UNC, Memphis and Lipscomb.
There will be one singles match and one doubles match from each school each day. On Friday, Tech tennis will take on the hosts Vanderbilt in the opening matches starting at nine a.m. This will be the second time Georgia Tech men’s tennis players will compete against players from Vanderbilt. The doubles pairing of Pablo Schelcher and Ángel Guerrero Melgar lost a meeting against Troost/Ross 8-3.
Saturday’s action will be against players from Memphis and Lipscomb followed by Sunday matches against players from UNC. This is the first action against players from these schools this year but Memphis and UNC are familiar foes. Georgia Tech’s NCAA Tournament was ended at the hands of the Tigers in 2021 and UNC is a conference rival.
After the Commodore Invitational the White and Gold head off to the ITA Southeast Regionals from Oct. 21-24 before ending the fall slate the weekend of Nov. 5. This weekend will feature the GT Invite at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex and ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, Calif.
