Men's Tennis Concludes ITA Day Two

THE FLATS – Main draw began today in day two of the 2023 ITA Southeast Regional. Georgia Tech had an eventful day in singles and doubles action.  

Tech started the day with doubles action, Gabriele Brancatelli and Richard Biagiotti advanced through two rounds of play defeating USF’s Bruno Oliveira and Thomas Pavlekovich-Smith in a tiebreak 8-7 (10-8). Brancatelli and Biogiotti would then go on to dominate a ranked UCF’s (5) Yassine Dlimi and Mehdi Benchakroun 8-1. Krish Arora and Elias Shokry were also in doubles play today, however they did fall to USF’s (2) Erik Grevelius and Alvin Tudorica. 

Krish Arora kicked off singles action for the Yellow Jackets and he upset Miami’s (10) Antonio Prat (3-6,7-5,6-2). Biagiotti dominated UNF’s Andreas Scott in straight sets (6-0,6-3). Rohan Sachdev played a hard-fought match against UCF’s Mehdi Benchakroun, however he would fall (7-5,6-3). Gabriele Brancatelli would drop the first set to Georgia’s Niels Ratiu 7-5, dominate the second set 6-0, to fall in in a devastating third set 6-1.  

Action continues Saturday, Oct. 14 with doubles quarterfinals, followed by singles round of 32 and round of 16. Consolation play will run all day. Doubles are set to begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by singles at 10:30 a.m.
