THE FLATS – Georgia Tech baseball junior catcher Kyle McCann earned a spot on the Golden Spikes Midseason Watch List for his outstanding performance over the first half of the season, it was announced Wednesday.
McCann is batting .342 on the season for a team-high 41 hits, nine doubles and an ACC-leading 14 home runs. His home run mark ranks fourth among the country’s hitters, while he currently ranks in the top 15 nationally in walks (34 – 7th), slugging percentage (.767 – 12th), and RBI (41 – 13th). He also sports a .494 on-base percentage, good for second on the team and third in the ACC.
The Suwanee, Ga. native has helped Georgia Tech to a No. 17 national ranking, having taken seven wins and two series over top-15 opponents en route to currently holding sole possession of first place in the Coastal Division.
McCann and the Yellow Jackets head on the road as they continue conference play, taking on Boston College on April 12-14. First pitch times are slated for 6 p.m., 2 p.m., 1 p.m.
