Marcelle, Lemons Compete on Day One of NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Steve Marcelle and James Lemons II competed for the Georgia Tech men’s track and field team on the first day of the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

Marcelle, a sophomore from Green Bay, Wis., placed 13th in the men’s shot put. Marcelle tossed the shot put 57 feet, 7 ½ inches, just three inches off of eighth place at the championship meet.

Lemons, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., finished 11th in the long jump with a mark of 24 feet, 11 inches. He will be back in action Saturday in the triple jump beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sophomore Alphonso Jordan will also be competing in the triple jump Saturday.
