Lumbra Named ACC Women's Diver Of The Week

Oct. 22, 2014

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech junior Shannon Lumbra was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Diver of the Week for helping the Yellow Jackets to a pair of dual meet victories this past weekend in Atlanta.

Lumbra won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events as Tech knocked off Georgia Southern last Saturday, scoring a season-best 298.70 points on the 1-meter and 308.50 on the 3-meter.

The Flower Mound, Texas native kicked off her weekend by helping the Tech women post an impressive ACC victory over Notre Dame. She was second on both boards, posting a 1-meter score of 285.95 and 306.00 on the 3-meter.

The weekly award is the first of Lumbra’s career and she becomes the Jackets’ second diver honored this season after Brad Homza claimed the Men’s Diver of the Week award on October 7.

Lumbra and the Yellow Jackets are home Saturday to host Florida State and NC State in a key ACC double-dual meet at the GT Aquatic Center. The meet begins at 11 a.m.
