Long and Craddock Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Patrick Long and Amanda Craddock were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, April 2, 2007.

Long, a freshman from Mechanicsville, Va., helped the Yellow Jackets to a 5-0 record on the week by hitting .500 with .850 slugging percentage and .524 on base percentage. He scored the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth against the Terrapins, helping the Jackets open the series with a 5-4 win. Long exploded for three hits – a single, triple and home run – in Tech’s 16-6 win over Maryland in the second game of the series, scoring two runs and recording four RBI against the Terps. He collected two more hits, including a double, in the Jackets’ 4-2 victory in the finale, helping the Jackets to their first ACC series sweep of the season. Long finished the weekend series hitting .583, collecting seven hits, including a double, triple and home run, while registering a 1.083 slugging percentage and .615 on base percentage in the series. Long has helped the Jackets to six-straight wins and an overall record of 19-11 after beginning the season 9-9.

Craddock, a freshman from Chesterfield, Mo., helped Georgia Tech extend its winning streak to six in ACC play as the Yellow Jackets won matches over 13th-ranked North Carolina and 20th-ranked Duke over the weekend . She had an unblemished mark in both singles and doubles play on the week, including earning a pair of quick singles victories to help the Yellow Jackets gain momentum in each of their matches. Craddock dropped a total of just six games through two singles matches on the week and also pushed her singles record in ACC matches to 6-1.
