CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior Andriane Lapsley won the 60- and 200-meter dash events to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Clemson Opener on Saturday afternoon. Lapsley clocked a NCAA Provisional time of 7.42 in the 60m, posted a winning time of 24.33 in the 200m and finished second in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.51.
Sophomore Shantia Moss crossed the finish line in first place with a NCAA Provisional time of 8.33 in the women’s 60m hurdles. Junior Ashlee Kidd finished first in the women’s 400 meters with a NCAA Provisional time of 54.50 and tallied a third-place finish in the 200m (24.50).
Senior Misty Dirksen clocked an indoor personal-best time of 2:16.65 in the women’s 800 meters to cross the finish line in first place. Freshman E.C. Gibbs and sophomore Derek Hoye finished third and fourth, respectively, in the men’s 800m with times of 1:58.28 and 1:58.63.
Four Yellow Jackets posted top-five finishes in the mile. Leading the way was junior Mary Chind as she finished second with a time of 5:18.43. Senior Rob Kuhn finished third in the men’s mile with a time of 4:21.13, while junior David Herren finished fifth with a time of 4:29.80. Freshman Ashley Keck tallied a fifth-place finish in the women’s mile with a time of 5:26.76.
Sophomore Elena Linn ran a time of 10:25.82 in the women’s 3,000 meters to finish in second place for the Jackets, while freshman Katina Zuganelis finished fourth with a time of 10:35.25. Freshman Nigel Orr finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 47 feet, 11 inches.
The Yellow Jackets will be off until after the New Year as Tech will travel to Lexington, Ky., for the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 13-14.
