Kidd Takes First at Iowa State NCAA Qualifier

March 3, 2007

AMES, Iowa – Ashlee Kidd set a personal-best time in the 400-meter dash as the only Georgia Tech women’s track and field athlete to compete at the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier on Saturday.

Kidd, a senior from St. Petersburg, Fla., placed first with her personal-best time and an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 52.10. She finished over a second better than her next competitor. Her time is currently the third best in the nation this season.

The sprinter, who was named Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track Most Valuable Performer this week, joins junior Shantia Moss as the team’s only automatic qualifiers for the NCAA Championship meet.

The Jackets will close out the indoor season next weekend, March 9-10 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
