ATLANTA–Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson was named a first-team all-America and linebacker Gerris Wilkinson was tabbed to the third-team by Rivals.com.

For Johnson, Tech’s sensational sophomore, the Rivals.com award is his third all-America team. He was named a first-team all-America by the American Football Coaches’ Association (AFCA) and a second-team all-America by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Wilkinson earned his first all-America recognition.

Johnson and Wilkinson will lead the 24th-ranked Yellow Jackets (7-4, 5-3 ACC) as they make their ninth straight bowl appearance against Utah in the Emerald Bowl, Dec. 29 at 4:30 p.m. ET in San Francisco, Calif.

The 6-4, 230-pounder from Tyrone, Ga., leads Tech with 52 receptions for 869 yards and six touchdowns.

He was a unanimous first-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference selection this fall, following first-team all-ACC and ACC Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman.

In two-year his career, Johnson has totalled 100 catches for 1,706 yards with 13 receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. He already ranks sixth in Tech history in career receiving touchdowns, seventh in receiving yards and 11th in receptions. He has a career average of 17.1 yards per catch.

Wilkinson, a senior linebacker from Oakland, Calif., is the top player on a Tech defense that ranks 10th in the nation in fewest yards allowed, as well as 11th in rushing defense, 14th in pass defense and 16th in scoring defense.

A two-time all-ACC selection, he leads Tech with 79 tackles, including 8.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and an interception.
