GREENSBORO, N.C. – Leading Georgia Tech baseball’s five players named to the Atlantic Coast Conference’s All-ACC Academic Team, first baseman Andrew Jenkins was recognized as the 2022 ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced Monday. Jenkins is the second Yellow Jacket to earn the honor, joining Derek Dietrich in 2010.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established to honor the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade-point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

- Tres Gonzalez** // Business Administration
- John Medich // Quantitative and Computational Finance
- Kevin Parada** // Business Administration
Jenkins, Gonzalez and Parada are earning the recognition for the second time in their careers. The five selected overall marks the third-straight year that baseball has garnered five members to the team after no team was named in 2020.
Already earning second-team Academic All-America honors, Jenkins started all 60 games at first base for the Yellow Jackets, batting .381 with 22 doubles, one triple and 17 home runs with 70 RBI. The Atlanta native tied for second in the conference with 96 hits. He also ranked second in the ACC in batting average and was third in both runs scored (71) and doubles (22) while earning first-team All-ACC and multiple All-America team honors.
In the classroom, Jenkins received his first Academic All-American award after earning a 3.79 grade-point average in his third year in the business administration program at Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech baseball continues to succeed in the classroom. The Yellow Jackets were one of nine teams at Tech to earn a 3.0 team GPA or higher, earning a 3.05 for the spring semester.
