THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete in the NCAA South Regional Championships hosted by Florida State on Friday, Nov. 9.
Both the men’s and women’s championships will be broadcasted live on NCAA.com. The women’s 6k race begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the men’s 10k slated for 9:30 a.m.
In the Jackets’ last outing at the ACC Championships, the women finished seventh overall, while the men placed 11th. Sophomore Hana Herndon led the women grabbing a 21st place finish and received all-ACC honors. For the men, Braeden Collins was the top finisher, placing 38th overall.
The White and Gold will compete against a total of 31 teams this Friday. On the women’s side, three of those teams are ranked in the top-30 in No. 21 Florida, No. 23 Ole Miss and No. 29 Georgia. The men will square off against two ranked squads, No. 17 Ole Miss and No. 30 Tennessee.
The women head into Friday’s meet ranked at No. 30 and sit fifth in the south region, while the men come in at 12th in the region.
The top two men’s and women’s teams and the top four individuals from each race, that are not a member of the two top teams, in addition the top-25 individuals will advance to the NCAA Championships, Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisc.
