Jackets Set to Host Georgia Tech Invitational

May 14, 2008

Schedule

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech track & field teams will host the Georgia Tech Invitational, its third and final track meet of the season, Friday-Saturday at the George C. Griffin Track. The Yellow Jackets expect over 1,200 athletes to compete at this season’s two-day meet.

The meet gets underway Friday at noon with the men’s hammer throw. Running events will begin at 6 p.m. with the men’s 110-meter hurdles. Saturday’s events commence with the women’s high jump at 11 a.m.

“As it is each year, the Georgia Tech Invitational will be one of the premier outdoor meets of the collegiate season,” men’s head coach Grover Hinsdale. “We have averaged from 60-70 colleges being represented each year over the last several years. This year’s edition will be no exception. Our teams are looking forward to the great competition this meet will offer. We are healthy and ready to produce some outstanding performances.”

The Georgia Tech Invitational marks the last chance most collegiate athletes will have to earn a qualifying mark for the NCAA Regional’s. The Yellow Jacket men’s team already has seven athletes qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships in seven different events, while the women have 11 athletes qualified in 10 events.

Live stats for the Georgia Tech Invitational will be provided by Delta Timing and will be available on the official Georgia Tech website.
