THE FLATS – No. 22 Georgia Tech baseball got back on track and back on fire offensively when it used 13 hits to run-rule Charleston Southern 17-3 in just seven innings on Tuesday night at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets (17-9) were led by Kevin Parada who launched two home runs for a career-high-tying six RBI on the night. Drew Compton also went a perfect 3-for-3 on the night with a homer and three RBI, while Stephen Reid finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Despite only having one hit apiece, both Tres Gonzalez and Bradley Frye had timely hits to drive in two runs each.
Tech also got terrific production on the mound. True freshman RHP Logan McGuire (2-1) got the win in his first collegiate start, surrendering just a run on three hits in 3.0 innings of work. True freshman LHP Camron Hill then came in a dealt two shutout innings while just scattering a hit before LHP Sam Crawford, RHP Cort Roedig and RHP Cole McNamee combined to allow just one earned run the rest of the way. The staff walked zero batters on the night.
The Buccaneers (10-17) were led by Ajay Sczepkowski, who finished with a solo home run. RHP Coleton Ausbern (0-1) received the loss, surrendering two runs on two hits without an out recorded in relief.
The Yellow Jackets head back out on the road when they travel to take on No. 2 Virginia in Charlottesville on April 1-3. First pitches are scheduled for 6 p.m., 4 p.m., and 1 p.m., respectively.
