THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field teams recorded several top three performances on the last day of competition at the South Carolina Invite.
In the field events, Tech earned multiple successful performances. One standout for the Jackets was Jamir Gibson who placed second in the men’s shot put invite with a personal-best mark of 18.66 meters (61-2.75) and the men’s weight throw invite (17.98m/59-0).
In the high jump invites, Shanty Papakosta took home second for the women (1.73m/5-8) and McKinley Thompson finished fourth for the men (2.03m/6-8). In the men’s high jump open, Omar Arnaout placed second with a mark of 2.00 meters (6-6.75).
Taylor Grimes placed third in the women’s long jump invite (5.94m/19-6). In the men’s triple jump, John Watkins came in fourth place with a mark of 15.10 meters (49-6.50).
In the 800m, Harrison Fultz took home 10th place for the men (1:53.26) and Allie Walker finished 15th for the women (2:13.40).
Sheleah Harris matched her personal-best time of 24.22 in the women’s 200m invite and finished in eighth place overall.
The women’s 4x400m relay team, comprised of Lydia Troupe, Ilene Soleyn, Jill Catton and Amanda Ehrenhalt, finished fifth with a time of 3:53.03.
