THE FLATS – In the first installment of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings released Wednesday, three Yellow Jackets represented Georgia Tech.
Coming off a successful fall campaign, freshman Kylie Bilchev leads the Jackets in the singles rankings, sitting at No. 38. Producing a 7-2 singles record in three fall tournaments, Bilchev captured her singles flight title at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic to open fall action. In the ITA Southeast Regionals, Bilchev advanced to the round of 16 in both singles and doubles. She capped her fall season going 2-1 in singles play at the John Cade Invitational.
Joining Bilchev in the singles rankings are sophomores Ava Hrastar and Carol Lee, coming in at No. 69 and No. 85, respectively. Hrastar went 7-2 in singles action during the fall, reaching the flight final in the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic. She joined Bilchev in the ITA Southeast Regionals round of 16 in singles and doubles, before going 3-0 in the John Cade Invitational to conclude fall play.
Also competing in three fall tournaments, Lee went 6-2 in singles action. The sophomore Yellow Jacket captured the flight four singles title at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, going undefeated on the weekend. Lee reached the round of 32 at ITA Southeast Regionals and picked up a pair of wins in the John Cade Invitational.
In doubles action, Georgia Tech’s pairing of Bilchev and Hrastar come in at No. 12 in the national rankings after going 7-1 during fall action. The pair took flight two of the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, collecting three victories on the weekend. They also advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA Southeast Regionals before suffering their only setback of the fall campaign. The pair concluded action with three wins in the John Cade Invitational.
