THE FLATS – After a week off from competition, the Georgia Tech swimming and diving teams return to action when they host Queens University of Charlotte and West Florida at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20 at McAuley Aquatic Center.
Last time out, the Jackets faced nationally ranked Texas A&M and Auburn. Despite losing to both teams, Tech recorded several impressive performances. The overall standout of the weekend was Batur Ünlü, who was named the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week. On Friday, Ünlü championed the 200 free, 100 free, 500 free and was a part of the men’s 200 free relay team that placed second. At Saturday’s meet, he continued his success with a first-place finish in the 200 free, second place in the 100 free, 400 free relay and a third-place time in the 400 medley relay.
The men’s swim and dive team are still ranked at No. 21 according to the December CSCAA Division I Top 25 Poll. In the most recent 2022-23 SwimSwam NCAA Men’s Power Rankings, the men are ranked at No. 23.
Friday’s meet against Queens and West Florida will consist of 16 events. These events include the 200 medley relay, 1650 free, 400 IM and 200 free relay.
