Jackets Power Past Jacksonville, 13-8

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Powered by four home runs and 17 hits, Georgia Tech softball (2-2) closed out opening weekend with a 13-8 victory over Jacksonville (2-2) on Sunday.

Sophomore Breanna Roper hits a two-run dinger over center field to score freshman Bailee Zeitler to put Tech up 2-0 in the top of the first.

 

Roper added another RBI, sending a single up the middle with the bases loaded to score sophomore Skye Webb.

Sophomore Tricia Awald knocks a two-RBI double to left field, plating Webb and Roper to put the Jackets ahead 11-8.

Just a triple shy of the cycle, Roper sends out her second home run of the game in the top of the seventh to score freshman Ariella Jackson and move the score to 13-8.

Up next:
The Yellow Jackets host cross-city rival Georgia State at Mewborn Field on Wednesday, Feb. 13 for their home opener. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
