ATLANTA – Senior Dusan Miljevic dropped a tight match in the second round of the ITA All-American pre-qualification tournament Saturday in Tulsa, Okla., while freshman Eduardo Segura Mandarino earned the only victory for Georgia Tech in its Fall Invitational at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Miljevic, a senior from Novi Sad, Serbia, who had a first-round bye in the ITA pre-qualifier, lost a straight-set match to Florida’s Andrew Butz, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6) in the second round Saturday. Teammates Kevin King and Juan Melian Puigventos will begin play in the ITA qualifying round Monday.
At home Saturday, Segura downed Chris Simich of Louisville, 6-3, 6-4, in the A Draw of singles Saturday before dropping a straight-set match to Matus Mydla of Armstrong Atlantic in the round of 16. Tech’s other two freshmen, Vikram Hundal and Colin Edwards, both sustained injuries and were unable to compete in singles.
Hundal was hurt in his doubles match with Segura, retiring at 4-3 in the first round of the A Draw against Simich and Adan Mcdonald of Louisville.
Play continues in both singles and doubles draws at 8 a.m. Sunday.
