Jackets Drop Series at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Georgia Tech softball (27-23, 8-10 ACC) dropped the series to the Cardinals (31-15, 11-7 ACC). Tech fell 11-7 in game one, playing the remaining three innings from Friday’s series opener on Sunday morning before dropping game two 7-2 and game three 11-10 in the top of the sixth due to travel constraints.

Game 1: UL 11, GT 7

Sophomore Skye Webb put Tech on the board in the first with a single down the left field line to plate sophomores Breanna Roper and Tricia Awald to give the Jackets the 2-0 lead.

With the score at 8-2 in the top of the third, junior Drew Puckett singled up the middle to score Webb from second and move the score to 8-3.

Sophomore Cameron Stanford sends out her 12th home run of the season with a two-run bomb over left center, scoring Awald to move the tally to 10-5.

Trailing 11-6 with two outs in the top of the sixth, Webb tallies her third hit of the game with a single to left center, plating Stanford to move the score to 11-7.

Game 2: UL 7, GT 2

Trailing 5-0 in the top of the second, freshman Bailee Zeitler sends a double to right center, scoring Huckabay from second to make it 5-1.

Game 3: UL 11, GT 10 (6)

Webb knocks a two-RBI double to left center, scoring Zeitler and Stanford to give Tech the 2-0 lead.

Still in the top of the first, Huckabay singles up the middle to score Awald and Webb.

With the bases loaded and the score tied at 6-6 in the top of the fourth, Huckabay sent her 12th home run of the season off the top of the scoreboard for a grand slam to put Tech back up 10-6.

Up next:
Tech returns to The Mew for its final home series of the season against Syracuse Friday-Sunday, April 26-28. On Saturday, the Jackets will honor graduates Katie Krzus, Kaylee Ellebracht and Sydney Stavro.
