THE FLATS — Georgia Tech baseball used two homers from Andrew Jenkins to catch fire and defeat Troy 11-7 in predetermined 12 innings on Saturday afternoon at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Jenkins finished 2-for-4 on the day with four RBI, while Colin Hall, Jake DeLeo, Kristian Campbell, Stephen Reid and Tim Borden also had timely hits for RBI with Campbell’s coming on a double. Transfer Chandler Simpson also impressed in his debut for the Jackets, going 3-for-3 with two stolen bases on the day.
On the mound, RHP Marquis Grissom, Jr. took the first two innings, allowing just two hits and getting two double play balls. RHP Zach Maxwell used all strikeouts to get through his 2.0 innings of work. Overall, Tech used 10 pitchers on the day with Cort Roedig, Aeden Finateri, Logan McGuire and Dawson Brown working scoreless outings as well.
The Yellow Jackets will finish fall exhibition action on Saturday, Oct. 23 when it hosts UAB at Mac Nease Baseball Park. First pitch is set for noon.
