Jackets Conclude First Days at ACC’s

Day 1 Results

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech diving and women’s swimming got fully underway at the ACC Championships on Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The shorter first day of competition featured just two relay races and the start of diving competition.

The Yellow Jackets began the weekend with a ninth-place finish the 200 medley relay final with the team of Allie Paschal, Nicole Williams, Chloe Miller and Iris Wang swimming a 1:39.93. Tech then turned in an eighth-place finish in the 800 free relay, as Wang, Emily Ilgenfritz, Lila Best and Kristen Hepler recorded a time of 7:11.99.

In diving, first for the women’s team was the 3-meter where Camryn Hidalgo led all Jackets with a score of 246.85 (17th), while Carly Doi finished with a score of 243.40 (18th). Freshman Kelsey Dekshenieks finished with a 196.50.

For the men’s team, Jacob Kreider led Tech in the 1-meter, scoring a 269.70 to place 15th overall while senior Matt Casillas scored a 260.20 (18th). Senior Nolan Mallet finished the day with a score of 211.35.

The ACC Championships gets fully underway on Thursday, Feb. 21 when the teams swim the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. Men’s 3-meter also gets underway. Prelims begin at 10 a.m., while the finals begin at 6 p.m. and are broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
