Jackets Conclude Competition at the Clemson Opener

CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior Rob Kuhn and freshman E.C. Gibbs tallied third-place finishes to lead Georgia Tech at the Clemson Opener on Saturday afternoon.

Kuhn, a native of Delmar, N.Y., clocked a time of 4:21.13 in the mile, while Gibbs, a native of Cullman, Ala., posted a time of 1:58.28 in the 800 meters.

Sophomore Derek Hoye finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.63. Freshman Nigel Orr finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 47 feet, 11 inches.

Junior David Herren tallied a fifth-place finish for the Jackets in the mile with a time of 4:29.80. Freshman Dave Ford finished 13th in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.31.

The Yellow Jackets will be off until after the New Year as Tech will travel to Lexington, Ky., for the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 13-14.
