Howard and Williams Advance to `A' Finals to lead Georgia Tech at Men's ACC Championships

ATLANTA – Junior Jason Howard clocked a NCAA `B’ cut time of 44.71 in the 100-yard freestyle and sophomore Alex Williams swam a lifetime-best time of 2:02.50 in the 200-yard breaststroke to qualify for the `A’ finals on Saturday morning to lead the Georgia Tech men’s swimming and diving team at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.

Freshman Onur Uras tallied a ninth-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a lifetime-best yards time of 1:50.11. Sophomore Ryan Bishop moved on to the consolation finals in the 200 breast with a season-best time of 2:02.97.

Senior Jeremy Raines posted a 15th-place finish in the 200 backstroke to qualify for the consolation finals with a season-best time of 1:49.95. Junior Teemu Kettunen logged a lifetime-best time of 45.72 in the 100 free to finish in 16th place.

The finals for Saturday night will start at 7 p.m. in the GTAC.
