Georgia Tech’s Joe Hamilton accounted for three touchdowns and became just the second quarterback in school history with 100 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in a game in Tech’s 41-10 victory over Central Florida. Hamilton directed the Rambling Wreck attack with precision as he completed 12 of 18 passes for 161 yards while rushing 12 times for a career-high 100 yards. He rushed for touchdowns of nine and six yards and tossed a six-yard touchdown pass. He guided the Tech offense to 494 yards of total offense.
Hamilton completed his first three passes of the game to extend his school-record streak to 18 consecutive completions.
1999 SEASON TO DATE
Hamilton LEADS THE NATION in passing efficiency at 211.35. In three games, Hamilton has completed 46 of 60 passes (77 percent) for 687 yards and seven touchdowns with NO INTERCEPTIONS. He has 844 yards of total offense and 11 TDR. He has guided the Tech offense to an average of 41.7 points and 494 yards of offense.
CAREER NOTES
Hamilton’s career pass efficiency rating is 141.5, the fourth-best mark in ACC history. He now ranks eighth in ACC annals in career total offense (7,690), tied for third in TDR (59) and 11th in passing yards (6,509).
