Hamilton-Carter Earns Spot on Swedish Senior National Team

Aug. 8, 2010

ATLANTA – Rising sophomore Danielle Hamilton-Carter has been named to the Swedish Senior National Team to participate in the 2010 European Championships.

“I am really excited to play for the first time with the Swedish National Team,” Hamilton-Carter said. “After the U20 European Championship I played my last game on the junior level and now I get to start my career playing on the senior level.”

Sweden’s senior team will face off against Slovenia, Portugal and Norway in the qualifying event. In their first game against Slovenia last night, Hamilton-Carter played four minutes off the bench in her first action for the senior team. Sweden earned a 78-61 victory in the game.

Hamilton-Carter led the U20 National Team at the 2010 European Championships last month. She scored a team-high 15.1 points a game and grabbed over five rebounds a contest.

Now in her sixth year of international play, Hamilton-Carter will begin her second year at Georgia Tech at the end of the month. She was named to the ACC Honor Roll after her first season for her work in the classroom.
