THE FLATS – A day after clinching at least a share of the ACC Coastal Division title, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets moved up seven spots in both the AP and Amway Coaches Top 25 polls released Sunday.
Georgia Tech (9-2, 6-2) jumped to No. 17 in the AP Top 25 poll following its 28-6 win over No. 19 Clemson on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Jackets’ No. 17 ranking is their highest since being ranked 12th the week of Oct. 9, 2011.
The Jackets moved up to No. 16 in the latest Amway Coaches Top 25 poll – also their highest ranking in the Coaches Poll since Oct. 9, 2011, when the Jackets were 12th.
The fourth College Football Playoff Top 25 poll will be released Tuesday. The Jackets were rated No. 22 in the third poll.
Georgia Tech, who has its second open date of the season this week, will close out its regular-season slate Nov. 29 against No. 9/10 Georgia in Athens. Kickoff is set for noon ET on the SEC Network. When the Jackets and Bulldogs take the field, it’ll be the 109th meeting of “Clean, Old Fashioned Hate” – the nation’s 19th-most frequently played series among FBS schools.
