Georgia Tech Volleyball Announces 2018 Schedule

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball’s head coach Michelle Collier released the 2018 slate on Tuesday, highlighted by three home tournaments and 19 home matches in O’Keefe Gymnasium.

“I am looking forward to getting our season going,” said Collier. “Our schedule will challenge us in many different ways and provide our young talented squad a chance to face a variety of styles of play.”

Fans can get a first look at the 2018 Yellow Jackets at the Gold and White scrimmage on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. Tech will also host Auburn for an exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m.

The Jackets open their season on Friday, Aug. 24, hosting Idaho State as the first match of the Hyatt Regency Invitational. As part of the tournament, Tech will also host Winthrop, Abilene Christian and Georgetown.

The White and Gold host their second tournament Aug. 30-31, the Hyatt Regency Tournament, competing against Alabama State, Wofford, South Alabama and Tulane in O’Keefe Gymnasium.

The Jackets take their first road trip of the season to Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sept. 7-8, to face off against Alabama and Marshall in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash.

Tech returns to O’Keefe to wrap up its non-conference schedule hosting in-state rival Georgia and Arkansas Sept. 14-15 as part of the Georgia Tech Classic.

The Jackets open Atlantic Coast Conference action on the road at Syracuse (Sept. 21) and Boston College (Sept. 23) before returning home for four matches, hosting Louisville (Sept. 28), Notre Dame (Sept. 30), Clemson (Oct. 3) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 5).

Tech spends two more ACC weekends on the road before playing its last five home games in O’Keefe against North Carolina (Oct. 26), NC State (Oct. 28), Pittsburgh (Nov. 2), Virginia (Nov. 4) and Syracuse (Nov. 11). The Jackets close out the season on the road, playing its final matches at Virginia (Nov. 18), Pittsburgh (Nov. 21) and Louisville (Nov. 23).

“We get a chance to host a lot of matches at O’Keefe this fall,” adds Collier. “I can’t wait to see our fans continue to give us the luxury of playing in one of the best volleyball environments in the country.”
