Georgia Tech Takeover Day Set for Saturday on ACCN

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s annual “Takeover Day” on ACC Network is set for Saturday, July 9. During Georgia Tech Takeover Day, ACCN will feature 24 hours of Yellow Jackets programming, including some of Tech’s top games from the 2021-22 academic year, as well as original programming featuring the Jackets.

Tech’s Takeover Day begins at midnight with the Yellow Jackets’ extra-inning softball win over Syracuse from March 27. Additional early-morning programming will include a re-air of the ACCN documentary “We’re No. 1,” which commemorates Georgia Tech football’s famed win over No. 1 Virginia and run to its fourth national championship in 1990, as well as the Yellow Jackets’ 2022 spring game, which was held on St. Patrick’s Day at Bobby Dodd Stadium, and Tech baseball’s series-clinching win over No. 3 Miami on April 30 at Mac Nease Park.

Morning programming begins at 8 a.m. with Georgia Tech volleyball’s thrilling five-set triumph at No. 2 Pittsburgh on Oct. 10 of last year, followed by baseball’s 10-0 series-clinching shutout win over No. 13 Florida State on April 10.

The afternoon is dedicated to two of the most impressive football and men’s basketball victories of the year – football’s 45-22 rout over No. 20 North Carolina on Sept. 25 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and men’s hoops’ 75-61 win over first-place Florida State on Jan. 26 at McCamish Pavilion.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, primetime programming is dedicated to three of the biggest wins in the history of Georgia Tech’s women’s sports teams. At 6 p.m., ACCN will air women’s basketball’s 57-44 victory over No. 2 UConn from Dec. 9 of last year. At 8 p.m., it will be Tech volleyball’s 3-0 win over No. 9 Ohio State in the 2021 NCAA Sweet 16, which lifted the Yellow Jackets to the Elite Eight for only the second time in program history. At 10 p.m., Georgia Tech Takeover Day concludes with Tech softball’s 2-1 win over Wisconsin in the opening round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, which marked the Jackets’ first postseason win in 10 years.
