OMAHA, Neb. – Eight Georgia Tech swimmers are in the Omaha this week, representing the Yellow Jackets at the 2012 United States Olympic Swimming Team Trials. The action began Monday at CenturyLink Center and runs through July 2.
For the Yellow Jackets, a program record 10 current or former swimmers earned Olympic Trials cuts, along with two incoming freshmen.
“This is a very exciting week for Georgia Tech swimming & diving, and what an honor it is to have these eight representing the Yellow Jackets at the U.S. Olympic Trials,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “We only had three qualifiers in 2008, so to have 10 this season, with eight actually competing in Omaha is a tremendous accomplishment for our program. I hope we swim well, and enjoy the moment. It’s something they will not forget for the rest of their lives.”
