ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will be competing at the Clemson Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19- 20. The Jackets will be traveling north to the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex, the site of the 2007 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships, for the second time this season.
The women are led by senior Ashlee Kidd, who ran NCAA provisional times in both the 200- and 400-meter dash this season. Junior Shantia Moss set a personal-best with a NCAA provisional time of 8.17 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles last weekend at the Kentucky Invitational.
“The Clemson Invitational is a quality meet on a good facility that will host the ACC Championships in February,” said women’s head coach Alan Drosky. “We are only taking a limited group to Clemson but expect to compete hard and make improvements.”
Junior Jerome Miller leads the men’s team, setting a personal- and school-record in the men’s high jump with a mark of 7 feet, 2 ½ inches at the Clemson Opener in Dec. Senior James Lemons has team-best marks in both the long jump (23-10.00) and triple jump (50-06.00).
“We look forward to returning to Clemson after a successful meet at UK last weekend,” added men’s head coach Grover Hinsdale. “The competition will be as strong, if not stronger, and will offer a great challenge to us. Another important factor is that Clemson will host our indoor ACC Championship this year. Our team needs to have a great feel for their facility.”
